Safe, Precise 3D Imaging for Root Canal Diagnosis
At East Coast Endodontics, we use state-of-the-art CBCT imaging to provide fast, detailed 3D scans with minimal radiationβhelping our endodontists diagnose and treat root canal problems with unmatched precision and safety.
What Is CBCT Imaging?
Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is a specialized type of dental X-ray that captures high-resolution, 3D images of your teeth, roots, jawbone, and surrounding structures. Unlike traditional two-dimensional dental X-rays, CBCT gives our endodontists the full pictureβliterallyβso we can spot infections, fractures, and unusual anatomy that would otherwise go unnoticed.
Why We Use CBCT at East Coast Endodontics
We believe that clear diagnosis leads to better outcomes. Thatβs why weβve invested in low-radiation CBCT technology at all of our locations.
CBCT scans help us:
- Detect hidden canals and anatomical complexities
- Evaluate bone density and surrounding structures
- Diagnose vertical root fractures
- Plan precise treatment for surgical endodontic procedures
- Confirm healing during follow-up visits
CBCT is especially valuable in cases involving complex anatomy, retreatments, cracked teeth, and apicoectomy planning.
Is CBCT Safe?
Yes. CBCT uses a focused, low-dose radiation beam and is considered safe for dental diagnostics. In fact, our systems emit significantly less radiation than traditional medical CT scans, while delivering far more diagnostic value than standard dental X-rays.
We only recommend a CBCT scan when clinically necessary and always adhere to the ALARA principle: As Low As Reasonably Achievable.
What to Expect During a CBCT Scan
The scan is quick, painless, and noninvasive. Youβll simply stand or sit while the machine rotates around your head for about 10β20 seconds. Thereβs no special preparation needed, and the images are available instantlyβso we can review them with you right away.
