East Coast Endodontics takes patient comfort very seriously. Our state-of-the-art technology, modern anesthesia and proven pain relief practices allow the entire root canal procedure to be completely painless and for discomfort after the procedure to be quickly alleviated.

Here’s how we do it:

We administer anesthetic to ensure the root canal process is 100% pain free.

Through the usage of anesthetic East Coast Endodontics is able to perform the root canal procedure without the patient feeling any pain or discomfort.

We give patients non-steroid, anti-inflammatory medicine after the root canal procedure.

Non-steroid, anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDS is a term for pain relief medicine such as Ibuprofen. NSAIDS are given immediately after the procedure to aid in keeping inflammation to a minimum.

We provide a prescription for antibiotics as needed to prevent pain and infection after the root canal procedure.

Antibiotics not only fight local infection and help prevent systemic infection but provide pain relief for the minor swelling that occurs as a result of the root canal treatment.

We provide proper pain relief after the root canal is complete.

Significant pain relief is achieved by taking 600 mg of Ibuprofen every 3 to 4 hours for 3-4 days after a root canal procedure. For most cases, East Coast Endodontics utilizes Ibuprofen in place of narcotics as they are proven to be a more effective pain relief solution. They also do not come with the potential harmful side effects of other options. It is important to know that it can take a couple of days for the Ibuprofen to build up in an individual’s body prior to noticeable anti-inflammatory effects.

Practice Good Oral Hygiene

To ensure quick healing and to reduce the risk of infection proper oral hygiene after a root canal is essential. As always, East Coast Endodontics recommends you brush and floss your teeth twice a day to maintain a healthy mouth and to ensure quick healing after treatment.

Eat Soft & Healthy Foods after a Root Canal

Minor inflammation is normal after a root canal. To help minimize pain East Coast Endodontics recommends eating soft and healthy foods such as soups, smoothies and oatmeal to help reduce stress and swelling during the healing process.

See Your Dentist for a Follow Up Appointment

The final step in root canal treatment is to visit your dentist for a crown or filling to close the root canal access and to ensure there is no further infection or decay. East Coast Endodontics partners with your primary dentist to ensure the final step of your procedure is quick, safe and comfortable.
